GOODOAK and OWL - 7 Generations

Ed Goodoak and Paul Searching Owl perform original songs with a Native American Message. These are drawn from various tribal traditions, with a strong influence of the Rainbow Warrior Path.

Goodoak and Owl have been creating music together for five years. Peter is of Mohawk and Italian decent. He carries a degree in music from the University of Massachusetts. Currently, he is a member of the Board of Elders for the Dighton Tribal Council and holds a position on the Board of Elders for the Mohawk Trail. Ed has been a songwriter for many years and has always had a deep respect for the wisdom and beauty of the Natural World.

We are different, and we are the same, and as Warriors of the Rainbow, we are caretakers of the earth and must wisely manage the finite resources that are temporarily ours. We must design systems so that all can share, including future generations. We must hold the Land, the Air, and the Water sacred. We must treat the Four-footed ones, the Finned ones, the Winged ones, the Standing ones (the Trees), the Plants and Insects and all diversity of Life with Love and Respect. But most of all we must Respect and Love one another as the Creator, who gave us all Life and everything that we have, surely Loves us all. When the Councils of Elders makes an important decision, they must consider how that decision will effect the next "7 Generations". We pray for all our leaders to do the same.

Please accept these Songs in the Spirit of our Love and always carry Peace in your Heart

Weave me a story, Spin me a tale
Give me a secret, tell me of far away and long ago

Storyteller
Fill me with wonder, open my eye
Tell me of legends, speak to me of a time
of danger and love

CHORUS
Tell me of spirits, Monsters and Heros
Places of Beauty, Mystery faces
Sun, Moon, and Stars

Storyteller
Show me a vision, bring a dream
Give a memory
Speak of people's oneness with all living things

Storyteller
Give me the knowledge, I am seeking
I've been searching
Tell me the end and remaking of the world

CHORUS
Coyote the Trickster, Blue Star Kachinas
The Great Raven, Thunderbird's Lightning
Live in my mind

There is a new wind, can you feel
The return of the spirit, to the people
Send out a message of World Unity

Dreamcatcher Maker

SOUND CLIP:
WAV | AU | AIF

When I was a little boy, I use to see
This grand wise old man and he's waving at me
He beckons me closer to show me his wares
His totems and pictures of big grizzly bears

CHORUS
I'll spin you a tale and I'll spin you a web
I'll spin a dream catcher to hang from your bed
When your spirit soars, beyond clear blue skies
I'll spin you a star to light and be your guide

Watching and listening to this wise old man
His lessons of history that haunt all the land
His people stood tall as they fought for their homes
Their nation, their heritage, that's not just for some
They fought for their life to be free and to keep their own lands
Because of their children they made countless stands
The warriors that fell like great buffalo herds
I'll always seek comfort with his loving words

CHORUS
Now that I've grown and I just have to see
What this grand old wise man had in store for me
His counsel and wisdom of what I should be
I fear that they'll be but fond memories
He helped me to see to strenghten my heart and my pride
I kept my head tall as he stood by my side
As his blood, strength and spirit flow through my veins
I hear grandpop's words without any pain

CHORUS

A Vision

SOUND CLIP:
WAV | AU | AIF

I cried to the night for a vision
I talk to the moon
She sang to me of the future a cleansing time
So softly she touched me with a gentle rain

I sing to the council of spirits
I hunger for the sound
We were standing near the center of the circle in a sacred way
Deep in the shadows, a medicine wheel

CHORUS
Go talk to the silence
Go listen to the wind
Will always remember the gift
The Raven, flying, thinks he owns the sky

My heart is soaring like an eagle
High above the earth
In awe of all creation, with eyes of fire
Laughter of thunder, by the sacred tree

We'll go through a great storm, a time of trial
Blessing way of the wild ones, it'll be all right
The world will be healed when we turn back
to the spirit

CHORUS
Go talk to the silence
Go listen to the wind
Will always remember the gift
The Raven, flying, thinks he owns the sky

Walking In Beauty
INSTR-VERSE

SOUND CLIP:
WAV | AU | AIF

Moonlight on the mesa, Alone in the desert
I see the sacred mountains, and a sky of beauty

Music at the river, Sunlight on the water
Eagle flying over, the beauty of our mother

CHORUS
People, Walking in beauty, balance and harmony
Open hearts to the teachings of the earth
A full and simple life

The morning mist surrounds us
The wonder of the sunrise
The offering of prayers, for a new day of beauty

Children running races, Smiles on their faces
Envisioning the places, where their spirits will go

CHORUS

May beauty be before you, May beauty be around you
A rainbow is above us, for our children's children

Land of the people, peaceful in their way
They walk in understanding, of the world everyday

CHORUS

The beauty of the family, a mother and her baby
The elders watching over, the blessings of the rain

Sounds of the evening, Spirits of the night
Telling ancient stories, of the times of beauty

CHORUS

Morning Star

SOUND CLIP:
WAV | AU | AIF

Looking for my Morning Star
I need the light to show the way
You are the brightest in the sky
I am the moon in the day

I've been asleep in the dark
But I've been dreaming of the past
For those who waited so long
Morning Star has come at last

CHORUS
You will always be my Morning Star
For you are there when I arise
I'd rather have you near to me than far
Your constant light will be my guide

A thousand lights in the night
I look for one star to be mine
A falling star burning bright
Can never stand the test of time

Will it be the eastern sky?
Or will I find you in the west
The sun is starting to shine
When you are here, I'm truly blessed

REPEAT CHORUS TWICE

Steppin' Out

SOUND CLIP:
WAV | AU | AIF

Winter has frozen the door
the birds weren't singing anymore
All of a sudden, Now is clear
You look around you and Summer's here

Cabin Fever is gone
And the days are getting longer
I'm Steppin' Out tonight, Steppin' Out!

Sun was warm out today
Everything has gone my way
So I'm feeling, Alright!

Wind is howling, Night is callin' me so
I'm Steppin' Out tonight, Steppin' Out!

Standing by the door
She looks at me with a cat's eye smile
That I never saw before tonight
Timing is right, She is quite a sight
No doubt about it honey
We're Steppin' Out tonight!

7 Generations

SOUND CLIP:
WAV | AU | AIF

Go to the mountains, In the great circle
An eagle flies there, It's a sign
Seeker of Knowledge, Searcher of Power
Given a vision, in a dream

It's the air we breathe
Water that we drink
Land that grows our food
These, the Gifts of Life

Cherish the children, They are the future
Show them the way, Give them love
Mystery Moon, Powerful Sun
Wonderful Earth, You remain

Seven Generations
Plenty for all people
Seven Generations
We respect all life

Pray to the Spirit, Let there be Gladness
World Understanding, Unity
Radiant People, Justice and Freedom
You're the new teachers, Give us Light

Like the rushing river
Wears away the mountain
You shall wash away
The hardest hearts of stone

Listen no more to little people
Who say only they, Have the truth
Listen for wisdom, to Harmony Teachers
Who like the rain, Touch us all

Seven Generations
Plenty for all people
Seven Generation
We respect all life

The Warrior's Song

SOUND CLIP:
WAV | AU | AIF

In the light of the fire
You can hear the warrior's song
It's a vision and a journey
Hear the voice, it is strong

The beating of the drum
The beating of our hearts

We have seen it, War and sorrow
We know what it is to live
Shall not carry, any hatred
We know how to forgive, but not forget

The beating of the drum
The beating of our hearts

Don't be afraid
There's nothing to fear
This world won't last forever
There's a reason why, we are here

In the light, of the fire
You can hear the Warrior's song
It's a vision, and a journey
Hear the voice, it is strong

The beating of the drum
This Peace, my gift to you
The beating of our hearts

Don't be afraid, there's nothing to fear
this dream won't last forever
there's a reason why we are here

In the light of the fire
You can hear the Warrior's Song

We Are One

SOUND CLIP:
WAV | AU | AIF

Blaze the trail, show me the way
Rid the world of it's strife
Keep the balance, of the old ways
Hopes and dreams of our life

We are one....We are one

Hear this song, show me your spirit
Feel the strength when we pray
In your heart, You can feel it
Raise your voice when we say

We are one....We are one

Time of change, Tell me your story
See us dance, Hear us sing
Give to all, Peace and Justice
We give thanks, Heal Our World!

We are one....We are one

We're still here, Here are the teachers!
Time to wake from your sleep
For the welfare of all people

We are one, Share your Love
